문화재청 국립해양문화재연구소(소장 김성배)는 오는 18일 오전 10시 30분 국립고궁박물관(서울시 종로구) 본관 강당에서「동아시아 중ㆍ근세 왕실 마루장식기와」를 주제로 국제학술대회를 개최한다.

국립해양문화재연구소는 지난 2019년부터 2022년까지 태안 양잠리 갯벌에서 조선 전기 취두의 완전한 형태를 처음으로 발굴함으로써 조선시대 왕실 관련 마루장식기와 연구에 있어서 중요한 자료를 확보하였다.

이번 학술대회는 태안 양잠리 갯벌 발굴 성과를 바탕으로 다양한 시각에서 마루장식기와의 최신 조사내용과 연구 성과를 발표하는 자리이다.
학술대회는 1개의 기조강연과 6개의 주제 발표, 종합 토론으로 구성하였다. 기조강연은 ▲ 조선시대의 왕실 마루장식기와(김성구, 전 국립경주박물관장)를 주제로 진행되며, 주제발표는 ▲ 우리나라 조간대 발굴조사 현황(최동원, 국립해양문화재연구소), ▲ 태안 양잠리 마루장식기와의 특징(양기홍, 국립해양문화재연구소), ▲ 태안 양잠리 취두의 출수 배경(이인숙, 국립문화재연구원), ▲ 기록으로 본 조선후기 마루장식기와(정정남, 문화재청 문화재위원), ▲ 일본 중세 마루기와의 기원과 변천(시미즈 아키히로 淸水昭博, 테즈카야마대학), ▲ 중국 명ㆍ청 궁궐 건축 지붕 유리 기와(쟈팅리 贾亭立, 둥난대학) 순으로 진행된다.
주제 발표 이후에는 좌장인 이주헌 전 국립해양문화재연구소 서해문화재과장을 중심으로 발표자들과 토론자 간에 다양한 의견을 주고받는 종합토론을 통해 이번 학술대회의 연구성과를 점검하고 앞으로의 과제를 논의할 예정이다.
행사 당일 현장에서 등록 절차만 거치면 누구나 참석할 수 있으며, 발표자료집은 국립해양문화재연구소 누리집(www.seamuse.go.kr)에서 확인할 수 있다.
문화재청 국립해양문화재연구소 서해문화재과 공달용 연구관은 "이번 국제학술대회를 통해 조선전기 왕실 마루장식기와의 뛰어남을 알리고, 동아시아의 기와 양식 변천 과정을 공유할 수 있는 기회가 되기를 기대한다."고 하면서 "왕실 마루장식기와에 대한 심화 연구를 지속적으로 추진하여 태안 양잠리 조간대 발굴조사 보고서를 올해 11월에 발간할 예정이다."고 말했다

“Royal Ornamental Roof Tiles of East Asia in the Medieval and Early Modern Period”

The National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage will hold an international academic conference on the May 18th at 10:30am at the National Palace Museum, with the theme of "Royal Ornamental Roof Tiles of East Asia in the Medieval and Early Modern Period."
The NationalResearch Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage has obtained significant materials for the study of royal floor decorations related to the Joseon Dynasty by excavating the complete form of Chuidu, a type of flooring structure, for the first time in Taean Yangjamri mudflats from 2019 to 2022.
* Ornamental roof tile: A specially made roof tile that usedon the top of the ridge on the roof of the wooden building to guard the building or to show its dignity and aesthetics.
* Chuidu(鷲頭) : Large ornamental roof tiles to be installed at both ends of the ridge of the roof on the royal buildings, such as the palace.
This academic conference has been organized with the aim of examining Ornamental Roof Tiles from various perspectives, based on the excavation achievements of Taean Yangjamri mudflats.
The conference consists of one keynote lecture, six presentations, and a comprehensive discussion.

Following the presentations, a comprehensive discussion will take place under the guidance of Chairperson Lee Ju-huen who is the former head of the West Cultural Heritage Division at the National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage.
During this discussion, the presenters and panelists will exchange diverse opinions to review the research achievements of this academic conference and discuss future tasks.

Through this international academic conference the National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage under the Cultural Heritage Administration aims to showcase the excellence of Royal Ornamental Roof Tiles in the mudflat period and share the evolution of roof tile styles in East Asia.
We are actively pursuing in-depth research on Royal Ornamental Roof Tiles and plan to publish the excavation report on Taean Yangjamri mudflat Period findings in November of this year.
