On the occasion of the 9th Nepal Constitution Day, Nepal Amb. H.E. Prof. Dr. Jyoti Pyakuryal(Bhandari) threw a dinner diplomatic reception for the Diplomatic Corps, NGOs such as Intl Cultural Heritage Strategy Center and last but not least Nepal communities in Korea late last month.

According to H.E. Prof. Dr. Jyoti Pyakuryal(Bhandari), Nepal aims to graduate from LDC(least developed country) status in the upcoming 2026. Against this backdrop, Jyoti Pyakuryal(Bhandari) said in her speech at the Amb's residence, located in Sungbuk-dong, Seoul that Nepal attaches importance to being as one of priority cooperative partner countries from the Republic of Korea.

Also according to Special Representative Lee Kyung-chul for Afghanistan and Pakistan at MOFAT who was on hand to diliver Government' speech, Seoul and Kathumandu greet both 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2024. In that context, it is very significant that President Yoon held a Summit Meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of Nepal with UN General Assembly as a momentum, said Jyoti Pyakuryal(Bhandari).

According to MOFAT, President Yoon requested Nepal's support with regard to the upcoming 2030 Busan Expo and proposed for the two countries to consolidate legal & institutional basis so that Korea's investment in Nepal can be expanded continuously..

Korea and Nepal agreed to deepen bilateral cooperations & partnerships in diverse areas such as economy, agriculture, employment and human exchange etc. on the occasion of both bilateral diplomatic 50th anniversary in next year, according to the Presidential Office.

For reference, Nepal Amb. Jyoti Pyakuryal(Bhandari) who has been teaching at Padma K Campus, Tribuvan University for more than three decades, was the Delegate of the 62nd United Nations’ General Assembly Meeting, October 18- November 9, 2007, New York.

She has participated in important international conferences such as International Conference on Human Rights Challenges of Globalization in Asia-Pacific, US: The Trafficking in Person, Especially Women and Children, in Honolulu, Hawaii; the 30th International Conference on Social Welfare, ICSW/Netherlands Institute for Care and Welfare (NIZW), The Netherlands; Urban Poverty Reduction Issues, ADB Institute, Asian Development Bank, Dhaka; Women Education Exchange Program, IWEAJ and Ministry of Education, Japan and Mass-Media and Democracy, Department of Mass communication, Gothenburg University, Sweden.
